We may not be experts on things to do around the Central Coast, but we’ve definitely nailed how to have the perfect weekend getaway just an hour’s drive away! The Central Coast may not be buzzing with people or places to go, but it could still be worth your weekend if you’re just looking to relax. Thanks to the internet (and more importantly, airBnB), this NSW haven is loaded with cute homes and apartments for you to choose from. We managed to find ourselves a Balinese-themed ‘heavenly spa retreat’, fully equipped with an outdoor jacuzzi for four or more and a private home with surrounding garden. Lucky for us, our hosts even prepared a bottle of champagne and chocolates for our arrival! With the lacking selection of hotels and resorts at the Central Coast, airBnB offers an ideal solution and you’re usually given everything (and more than) you would get in a hotel room anyways.
Unfortunately, our weekend didn’t involve many restaurant visits, but we can guarantee that any cookies ’n’ cream thick shake you get by the beach will be divine. The Entrance Waterfront is definitely a spot to go to – we went with some snacks and sat by the water, then had an afternoon stroll. There’s also a park and playground perfect for pets and children. If you’re feeling really adventurous, the Hunter Valley is also about an hour’s drive with gorgeous sceneries and wineries, and Glenworth Valley is a half hour’s drive with quad bike tours and other activities. Because of the winter weather, the majority of our trip was spent in the heated spa, but we’re not complaining!
