We absolutely love the Grounds, and as if things couldn’t get any better, there’s not a pop-up by the sea! the Grounds by the Sea is on from 7am everyday at Marks Park near Bondi (also where sculptures by the sea is)!
The pop-up is nowhere near as huge as the Grounds of Alexandria, but it has a lot of interesting things to offer – again. The set-up is like a tree house, resembling the Garden Bar in Alexandria. The amount of detail in the design is impressive, and it is definitely an experience.
If you head there for breakfast, you’ll have your usual Garden bar breakfast selections like the Avo smash, but spiced up extra pretty for the occasion. We have to say, it did beat the usual smash at the grounds – there was extra avocado slices on top of the smash, plus a giant feta square and pomegranate seeds (yum!!!). We also tried the Brekkie Burger, which came with a fried egg, bacon, avocado and more – maybe we aren’t breakfast burger people, but it was a bit too heavy on the grease side. The other options included a breakfast omelette and fruit bowl.
If you opt for a lunch, the kitchen will start cooking at 11:30am. There were a number of burgers and wraps that looked delicious, but we made it too early.
Obviously you don’t want to miss out on what the Grounds is famous for either – their coffee. If you want to try something new, I would recommend the Chai Latte with soymilk! But if you’re up for something different, the Grounds by the sea has a completely different selection of juices and smoothies to offer. We tried the Berried Treasure, blended with mixed berries, coconut and more – so amazing! There is even a ‘Tree house’ with DIY slushie/soft serve cups.
The Grounds has stolen our hearts (and stomachs) again.
