IMG_3984Platform No 8 in Westfield Parramatta is a hidden gem. Located further from the lower ground food court, this café may look like your everyday shopping centre food stop, but we promise more than a pleasant surprise.

We tried the Cronuts and shakes at Platform 8 before, and although the croissant donut was pretty, the experience really couldn’t compare to our recent breakfast there. We started with one Mixed Berry and one Lemonade Smoothie – I wasn’t so sure what to expect with the Lemonade one, but it was shockingly good, super refreshing and sourly sweet. The Mixed Berry was pretty overwhelmingly sweet, but still delicious in slow sips. We ordered our food from the Specials Menu, and decided to try the Berrylicious Toast (recommended by the staff) and another dish called the Big Bird Benedict.

IMG_3993The French toast was not soggy at all as you usually expect – the bread was crisp and subtly sweet, topped with fresh yoghurt and berries. The hot, buttered toast and cold, creamy toppings complemented each other divinely. The Benedict was even more of a delight, complete with crispy fried chicken, salad and 2 poached eggs. We have to admit, it was a heavy choice for breakfast, but no regrets. This was one of the few times we managed to completely clear our plates, and we also managed to stay full the entire day.
